My sci-fi/space opera series Star Force 7™ makes extensive use of Comic Tools products. In fact, many of the Comic Kits and Page Template sets were first created while working on Star Force 7™. While I found some excellent third-party sound fx lettering and fonts, I still needed a lot more of this type of content, and it just wasn't available a few years ago.

One day I just sat down at the computer and found myself creating my own libraries of ready-to-use sound fx, page templates, and backgrounds for use in my own comics. So Comic Tools was born out of this need - I poked around on the forums a bit, and then decided to provide these resources to other folks who needed the same thing.

So...back to Star Force 7™. Here are some sample pages I created back in 2006 that made use of the CBC Templates sets and the Comic Kits. At the time, Comic Book Creator only allowed letter-size pages. I'm now using Version 2.0 which has settings for the industry standard comic book pages (6.625" x 10.25").

CBC Templates Pak 4 was used exclusively for Hellsquad: RECON™ Issue 1 back in 2007. In fact, RECON was created because I needed a promo for that Templates Pak, and FAST - so I ended up writing a quick script, pulled some sets from the 3d library, and used a few of the camera tricks I talk about in The Sky's the Limit tutorial, and knocked out a 3-page "micro-comic" in a little more than a day.

The full RECON script ended up being more than 3 pages, and I ultimately expanded the story even more, turned it into a 6-issue mini-series and found a way to fit it into the SF7 universe. If you have the original PDF that was included with Templates Pak 4, you've got a "collector's edition" on your hands - The one for download on the Star Force 7™ web site has a different cover and slightly different "packaging", and carries the Star Force 7™ and Hellsquad™ branding. The original carried only the Comic Tools logo and RECON titling.
